Lisa Schroeder, a senior at The College of Saint Rose, is a driven artist and arts community representative within the capital region. Graduating spring of 2020 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a concentration in sculpture, she hopes to use her skills to continue to develop the arts community with a collaborative project she created called The Crit Wall. Now the owner of a small business that inhabits The Crit Walls mission, Symmetry Art Space LLC creates support systems for upcoming artists of all genres through critique, job opportunities, studio visits, gallery exhibitions, and the freedom for artists to establish essential relationships. The group is now providing support for a growing number of 200 members practicing in music, dance, 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional, creative writing, curatorial explorations, graphic design, and photography. Since 2017, Schroeder has served as a drawing/painting tutor at HVCC (Troy NY), continues to host BYO Crit Night at Collar Works (Troy NY), Project Manager at Art Omi’s international artist residency (Ghent NY), Fields/Events assistant at Art Omi (Ghent NY), volunteer at Albany Art Room (Albany NY), and a 2020 committee member for The Esther Massory Gallery (Albany NY). As her primary focus is within the community, she is an active artist who embodies a thorough understanding of the importance of establishing connections.

A ubiquitous object is manufactured into existence without an inner core of connotation. The being who inhabits it generates an anxious analog of memories contrived into a false reality, without the acknowledgment of its premier existence inside the mind. The object is now a connection of history even though the juncture of time no longer exists. The object’s existence is a symbolic representation of time within the present.
Lisa’s work is physical documentation of personal moments that are forced into existence within the object. Each piece is a string of consciousness with quiet inklings of conceptual conversation. The conversation constitutes a continuation of a larger web of energy exchange in which reevaluates the concept of history and its existence. The viewer assesses the objects in the present as a ritualistic reminder of the past, but the past is absent.
Symmetry Art Space, founded by Lisa Schroeder, mission is to provide artistic support for experimental artists practicing in any category. With a focus on the new or under-represented, our objective is to provide existential connections to local art representatives or mentors through creating supportive events, collaborations, and opportunities. Symmetry Art Space’s belief systems revolve around the awareness of the benefits of an artistic community. We understand how difficult finding a community can be and we make it our goal to reinvent this crucial period in all budding artistic careers.
